At an early age, she volunteered with the Special Olympics. She also worked with special needs children at Brunswick City School. She has always loved seeing the children’s faces light up! When she first heard of SHTKIO on the news, she thought is was a wonderful idea and an organization she had to join. She loves the group and the joy it brings to children. There are many people in this world that want to do a good and this group proves it!Selina Conde de YoungSelina (Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Raven, Maleficent, Princess Fiona, Cruela Devil, and Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas) is a certified machinist and cake decorator. She is employed at Republic Steel, where she is a mobile crane and scrap burner. Selina loves her family, traveling, cooking, music, and being artistic. She has 2 children and niece who also love to bring smiles to others. Selina learned from her Grandfather the selfless act of giving. “The greatest gift you can give someone is your time, your attention, your love, your concern.” It is here at SHTKIO she can give back to the kids.Jarrod Hamilton (Board Member)Jarrod (Captain America and Winter Solider) is a Texas A&M University graduate with a B.S in Industrial Distribution and has worked in sales management roles involving rotating equipment with an emphasis in fluid process handling. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Jarrod moved to Ohio in 2002 and fell madly in love with his beautiful wife, Sharon. They welcomed a son in 2010 and a daughter in 2011, who support the group as a junior Superhero and Princess. Jarrod’s family shares the passion to brighten a child’s day and name them as the true “SuperSoldier”.Jeanne Januzzi (Board Member)Jeanne Januzzi is proud to come from an Italian background and feels blessed to be a part of an organization and “Super” family whose main goal is to bring smiles to children facing any adversity in their life. She has a 19 year old son, Zach, who attends OSU for Mechanical Engineering. GO BUCKS! He is also Spiderman for SHTKIO. Barbara attended Gotham State University and graduated with a degree in library science and is also accomplished in Juno, Karate, gymnastics and running. She is a mentor for the Scott Hamilton Cares Initiative-to continue her journey of helping others who have been diagnosed with Cancer. Helena aka Batgirl, is active and enjoys sporting activities, working out, movies, reading and spending time with her Mother, friends and family. “A smile from a child is packaged sunshine and rainbows”. Stay Super!! BGStephanie Cirilo (Board Member)Stephanie (Lois Lane) has been employed at Nordson Corporation, Amherst, Ohio for 40 years. She is currently a Senior Administrator in Sales. Stephanie’s volunteer experience includes: being a 4th Angel through Scott Hamilton’s CARES Initiative at Cleveland Clinic, Leadership Lorain County class of ’97, Big Brothers Big Sisters, United Way of Lorain County, and Nordson’s Time-n-Talent group. She is a 14-year breast cancer survivor and sees SHTKIO as a way to give back for all the support she received through her own illness. She thinks seeing children and their parents smile and forgetting their troubles for a bit is priceless!Scott Smith (Board Member and Founder)As a co-founder, Scott has learned “it is not what we have in life, but what we DO to make a difference” that is most important. Supes not only flies around town making appearances to put smiles on children’s faces, but he’s also the proud owner of S.M. Smith’s Martial Arts School in North Ridgeville, Ohio. There, hundreds of students learn about respect, responsibility, and the way of life through training in Taekwondo. He is a physically fit hero all around! Scott is truly Superman: A Master/Teacher of Martial Arts, a devoted father to Mason, and loving husband to Erin.Joe Gallipoli (Board Member)Joe Gallipoli was born and raised in Northeast Ohio. He attended St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio and graduated with a degree in Marketing from Kent State University. His career in medical sales has afforded him the opportunity to witness the positive impact medical innovation has on patients’ lives which served to further his philanthropic desires. Joe made the acquaintance of Superheroes to Kids in Ohio in the summer of 2012 while an extra in Marvel’s “The Avenger’s”, which led to his adopting the character of Hawkeye. Joe resides in Twinsburg, Ohio with his wife Linda and daughter Emma.Jay BlazekJay (Spiderman, Daredevil, and TNMT’s Michelangelo), a native of Cleveland, OH & retired CPD Sgt., is an OLC State Investigator at the Hard Rock Rocksino. His volunteering began at age 13, assisting children as a member of the West Park Friends of the Retarded. He believes “super” children dealing with adversity are an inspiration so deserving of our attention. Jay is thankful that SHTKIO has given him the opportunity to bring happiness in children’s lives. He is even more honored that the children allow him the privilege of entering into their lives to share some enjoyable moments together.Daniel Stewart Daniel is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace University and works for the State of Ohio Auditors Office. He is a proud father to 2 amazing kids that his world revolves around. Daniel is a recent addition to Super Heroes to Kids in Ohio, recruited and mentored by Scott Smith. He trains and competes in martial arts at S.M. Smiths Martial Arts. Helping others, doing what is right, and being an inspiration to others are a few reasons why Daniel enjoys being part of Super Heroes to Kids in Ohio. He can be seen as any character needed in order to complete a mission.Brian Chulik (Founding Member and Board Member)Science teacher, athlete, and author by day—super hero volunteer in his spare time. “I have always admired super heroes not just because of their great powers, but because they choose to do ‘good’. I am deeply honored to work with people who want to make a ripple effect for ‘good’ in the world. There is no greater honor.” Along with Scott Smith and Jimmy Myers, Brian helped found SHTKIO after surviving a ruptured appendix and seeing kids persevere while recovering in the Cleveland Clinic. He believes SHTKIO has expanded because of incredible people wanting to make a difference. He is often seen as Batman.Debbie BryantDebbie is a senior paralegal currently employed by Lazzaro Law Offices. She is married with 3 wonderful children and one grandchild. She initially joined SHTKIO with her daughter, Emily, as a photographer at events. Her son, Keith, also joined Emily to form the Wonder Twins. As the group has expanded to include Princesses, she decided to take on the persona of the Fairy Godmother from Cinderella, which she has greatly enjoyed. She believes the group is a great opportunity to spread smiles, cheer, love, and laughter to children and adults, as well as the families that care for them.Hector Cirilo (Board Member)Hector (Wolverine) is employed at PolyOne Corporation in Avon Lake, Ohio. He has been a martial artist for 13 years, and is also an avid golfer and windsurfer. Hector joined Super Heroes to Kids in Ohio as a way to honor his mom, who died of cancer a few years ago, and his wife, who is a breast cancer survivor. For Hector, it is a wonderful feeling to see the positive reactions of children and their parents because they are happy to see SHTKIO volunteers and it helps get their minds off of their illnesses.Josh RoseJosh is an 8th grade scholar and his favorite subjects are Social studies and Science. Josh loves to write poetry and to paint. Josh wants to be a teacher and psychologist when he grows up. Josh also wants to make a difference in kids’ lives even though he himself is still very young. He is also a nerd—he loves reading and collecting comic books, and is proud to be a member of the group.Jim McGuireJim McGuire is Logistics Technician for a major pharmaceutical company in Columbus. He joined the group to share his lifelong love for the DC Superheroes and make a child’s day a little brighter. He has been seen as Captain Marvel and Aquaman.Adrienne Costanzo (Board Member)Adrienne (Wonder Woman) is a graduate of Cleveland State University where she was a student-athlete in tennis and studied Sports Management. Her passion for health and wellness naturally led her in the direction of becoming an AFAA Certified Personal Trainer and tennis instructor. Adrienne has been a member of Superheroes to Kids in Ohio for 4 years where she plays the role of Wonder Woman. She was thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of an organization that gives back to the community, especially to children who are battling serious health issues and adversities.Glenn Hetrick (Board Member)Glenn Hetrick became involved with “SuperHeroes2KO” after discovering what a great idea and organization it was. He believes that the real joy is not bringing Superheroes to meet a challenged child but how that child imparts what a real hero is to the person behind the mask! He is an Airline Captain with ExpressJet Airlines (A United Regional Affiliate) and resides in North Ridgeville. His other hobbies include Tae Kwon Do training at S.M.Smith’s Martial Arts (currently 3rd degree Black), and playing Bass in Ohio’s all Airline Pilot Band – Fenderjet. He is often seen as the Flash.Michelle Dean (Board Member)Michelle Dean (Black Widow) is a licensed Physical Therapist and is currently employed by University Hospitals. She enjoys singing and is a member of the Contemporary Worship Team at Willoughby United Methodist Church. As a volunteer for Hospice of the Western Reserve, she also sings at various agency events. She joined Superheroes to Kids in Ohio because of the joy and happiness that can be brought into the lives of so many children facing adversity. The smiles on their faces say it all—and that is an incredible experience for everyone involved—not just for the child, but also for the Superhero.Mark MacKayeMark MacKaye is a filmmaker, professional wrestler, and artist. Mark wanted to become a super hero ever since he saw Spider-Man, but since getting bitten by a radioactive spider doesn’t actually give you super powers he then realized if he could inspire others to create or do great things then hes done his job. Proving that you don’t need to get bitten by a spider, have a suit made of iron, or to be chosen by a dying purple alien to do great things.Josh MeeboerJoshua Meeboer is Deadpool. This mild-mannered grocery store manager, and The Merc with a Mouth, uses his talents to bring smiles to children across the state. Being with Super Heroes to Kids in Ohio gives him the opportunity to do just that. Joshua has also costumed as Drax the Destroyer from Guardians of the Galaxy and 1960’s Penguin from Batman. When he’s not fighting crime or lifting people’s spirits, he can be found telling bad jokes, going on hilarious misadventures, photobombing innocent children and superheroes, or simply standing around and looking heroic.Dawn SwansonDawn is a Teacher from Colorado. Since moving to Ohio in June 2013, she plays Supermom for 2 of her 4 children along with 3 additional sweet children she considers her babies. Dawn is in the honorable position of helping children of all ages by putting smiles on their beautiful faces while appearing through SHTKIO as Frozen’s Elsa and Ana, Cinderella, Brave’s Merida, Maleficent, Black Widow, and Iron Woman. Dawn finds great joy in helping children overcome the obstacles they face with smiles. SHTKIO has provided her with the avenue to experience that joy.Debbie MooreDebbie has been married 28 years and has 3 beautiful daughters; one married and 2 in college. Debbie and her husband have been entrepreneurs for 22 years. She has been very active in her childrens’ lives with their many different sports and activities. Debbie heard about SHTKIO when her daughter did a school feature on a classmate involved with the group. Debbie loves Disney and the Princesses, so she knew the time was right to join when the group expanded to include Princesses. She is looking forward to bringing smiles to more children as Anna, Snow White and Cinderella.Emily Bryant (Board Member)Emily Bryant is an Analyst at BrownFlynn, a corporate responsibility and sustainability consulting firm located in Cleveland, Ohio. She considers it a privilege to work with so many wonderful families in Northeast Ohio and be part of their children’s journey to wellness. She is honored to use her own experiences with adversity to empathize with others and encourage them to overcome obstacles. Emily suits up as many different heroes, including Valkyrie, Supergirl, Aquawoman, the Invisible Woman, and Green Lantern. She also enjoys sprinkling pixie dust as Tinkerbell, and forming a brother-sister duo with her brother, Keith, as the Wonder Twins.Jennifer BeselJennifer is married and a mother of two children; a son and a daughter, who she calls her monkeys. She works at PRN Solutions as an Administrative Assistant in Westlake, Ohio. Jennifer has lost a lot of her family members to cancer and other diseases. Joining SHTKIO is a way for Jennifer to bring happiness to children facing adversity and challenges. In her eyes, when she makes someone smile and brings them happiness, it brings her such warmth to her heart. Jennifer can be seen as Phoenix, Snow White, Mrs. Incredible, Tooth Fairy from Rise of the Guardians, and Black Cat.Nick MichaelNick is a full-time student studying to be a teacher. He hopes to eventually teach history and language arts at the middle school level. He has been a comic fan ever since his mom brought home his first Batman comic. Nick loves to make a difference in the lives of children and is proud to be a member.Jeff KatzinJeff is an Assistant at the Cleveland Public Library, has earned a Master’s degree in art history from the University of Texas, and hopes to teach and conduct research in art history at the college level. He is honored to volunteer with Superheroes to Kids in Ohio, and is consistently amazed by the positive and immediate impact that the group has on children and families. Jeff has appeared as Mr. Fantastic and The Riddler (if you know any good, kid-friendly riddles, feel free to pass them along!).Bond “Nick Fury” Pyant from Wauwautosa, Wisconsin is a U.S. Armed Forces Veteran, former East Cleveland Police Officer and current Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Officer. Coming from a Police family, Bond values the benefit of hard work, service to Country and volunteering a helping hand to those less fortunate. He loves attending various Festivals & Comic-Cons nationwide. Joining Super Heroes to Kids in Ohio gives Bond the honor of making children happy, welcoming new friends and sharing brotherhood with a stranger. He humbly believes there’s no greater joy than being part of something bigger than yourself.
